Be neighbourly!!About Neighbourhood Watch

UK Neighbourhood Watch is over 35 years old. It was first introduced into this country in 1982 in Mollington, Cheshire following the success of a similar scheme in Chicago in the USA. Since then it has grown to be the largest voluntary Group in the country.

The purpose of Neighbourhood Watch is to unite neighbourhoods in an effort to prevent crime, by protecting and enhancing their environment and generally looking out for each other's properties. Working in partnership with the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team gives Nailsea Neighbourhood Watch a way of dealing with many issues affecting the communities, such as anti-social behaviour, burglary and vehicle crime.

Neighbourhood Watch is not just about reducing burglary figures - it's about creating communities who care. It brings local people together and can make a real contribution to improving their lives. The activity of Watch members can foster a new community spirit and a belief in the community's ability to tackle problems. At the same time, you feel secure, knowing your neighbours are keeping an eye on your property.
